Shouldn’t truth be able to stand up to scrutiny? Is there any circumstances where truth would suddenly not be truth? No, if something is true, it is true and no amount of criticism or critiquing can change that.
Does a Christian have to worry about people who say God doesn’t exist, or his message isn’t as true today as it was when it was spoken? No. Through out the bible God tells us that his word is the measure of truth.
History has shown us that there are never a short of those who call themselves representatives of God but are not.
Acts 1711; Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.
Revelation 3:9; I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. – Jesus
Revelation 2:9; I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. – Jesus
Matthew 24:24; For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. – Jesus
Matthew 16:16, 18; Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God… on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not overcome it. – Jesus
Jesus said that even signs, wonders and apparent miracles will not be enough to deceive those who follow the truth. He further says that the defenders of Hell itself will not overcome the truth of the word of God, so why would anyone tell you to be afraid of critics, or what they have to say?
The bible is both the most popular book and the most persecuted book ever written. Critics have been trying to wipe the holy scriptures off the face of the earth for millennia. It has been accused of error, corruption, myth, legend and political incorrectness by those who to try and discredit and destroy its message of God’s salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord.
As you have read or can read in other posts and on my YouTube channel, that scripture is as reliable today as it was two thousand years ago. We know from the dead see scroll of Isaiah, a copy dated to well before Jesus walked the earth, is the same writing we have today.
Hiding from criticism does not protect you, it only weakens you as doubt and wonder eat at your soul.
1 Thessalonians 5:19-22, 26; Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.
John 14:15-17; If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you…
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. – Jesus
Don’t let anyone tell you that you cannot understand the word of God. His Holy Spirit lives in each of his disciples to reveal himself, and his will for their lives. Who are disciples of Jesus? All believers, not just the elders.
John 8:31-32; To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free
2 Timothy 3:12-13, 16-17; In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Scriptural truth is revealed to each believer through the Holy Spirit that lives in them. If you have the Holy Spirit living in you Jesus says you are born again spiritually.
Romans 8:9-11; …[you] are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
The God of the bible is stronger than any critic. His word is bigger than any criticism that has been brought against it for thousands of years.
If the ruling elite of your religious order forbid you from examining what critics are saying about your belief, maybe its because it won’t stand up.
We don’t have to be convinced of truth, it just is whether we believe it or not. Belief is a state of mind not a measure of truth. The sun is hot even if someone tells you sincerely it isn’t. You need to go outside and see for yourself. Lies and error are the ones that need to be carefully regulated and protected, not truth.
Truth always stands up to scrutiny. But you won’t know it if you don’t test it.
Proverbs 14:12; There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.
