If Jesus rose from the dead, there is hope, and there is great joy for those who repent, for they receive eternal life.
If Jesus did not rise from the dead, the apostle Paul said this:
1 Corinthians 15:16-19; And if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins. In that case, all who have died believing in Christ are lost! And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world.
Was There A Real Jesus?
First you may be wondering if a man named Jesus really walked the earth or is he just a myth. The best source to go to for helpful information would be a skeptical scholar, one who is highly respected and makes a living in the world of antiquity. Bart Ehrman is one of the world’s leading ancient text experts, he is also an agnostic, which means he does not believe in God, or that Jesus is the Son of God.
The video clip below is Dr. Ehrman speaking at a “Freedom From Religion” conference, when he responds to a comment about there being no evidence at all supporting an historical Jesus.
Below is world renown author, atheist, and evolution scientist Richard Dawkins. He wrote in he book “The God Delusion” that ancient historians don’t agree that Jesus ever existed.
Now we know what scholars really think about a historical man named Jesus. But what about his resurrection?
Paul said if there was no resurrection, there is no Christianity. So, lets look at evidence supporting the extraordinary claim of Jesus resurrection. Surely, historians don’t believe that. Surely there is no evidence of Jesus rising from the dead?
If you look at this evidence, it will change you. You may not believe Jesus rose from the dead, but you certainly have a much harder time saying the narrative is a myth.
Below is the worlds leading Scholar on the resurrection. Listen to this short clip on what skeptical scholars say about the New Testament text.
Dr. Habermas goes on to more deeply unpack why the resurrection narrative should be taken seriously. He makes his case on only what skeptics allow into evidence, and you are going to be very surprised.
As Dr. Habermas said in his introduction, you have the Gospel, now what are you going to do with it?
Romans 3:10-12, 17, 18; No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; …They don’t know where to find peace. They have no fear of God at all.
Romans 3:22-25; We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.
The gospel, which means “Good News”, is that we don’t have to die in our sins. We don’t have to be in anguish and separated from God for all eternity. Jesus paid our price and is now alive as he promises we will be also.
Revelation 1:17-18; Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave. – Jesus
John 11:25-26; I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. – Jesus
When we receive the risen Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, God gives us his Spirit to help us and to change us from within, guaranteeing us eternal life.
Romans 8:11; The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
