To those who sacrificed and who continue to sacrifice so others can live free.
There is a cost for freedom. Whether it is someone trying to take your land, your possessions, your money or your liberty, it is going to cost someone somewhere.
The United States and Canada stand free today because of those who answered, and continue to answer the call when others want to destroy us. The cost was great, to those who died, those who returned damaged from war, and to their families, and it continues today.
We also have a spiritual enemy who wants to destroy us.
1 Peter 5:8; stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
John 10:7-10; Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
God’s cost for our freedom was his Son Jesus Christ, our cost for our freedom is our sin. We must give it up and turn to God for forgiveness.
Some may think the cost of following Jesus is too much, but what they are not realizing is that the cost of not following him is far greater.
Matthew 16:24-26; Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?l Is anything worth more than your soul?
