First, lets be clear, being gay sends no one to Hell

Second, not all Christians follow the bible.

See my blog post “Christian Sects vs Historic Christian Church”

Calling Christians homophobes is as fair as calling homosexuals pedophiles, or Muslims terrorists, or Mexicans rapists and murderers.

Why is it acceptable to slander 3 billion Christians?

The bible says that Hell is reserved for those who reject God, and continue in their sin.

Romans 5:9

God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, practicing homosexuals, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God.

That list represents a lot of people. I dare say, it exempts no one. I don’t see gays listed though I do see desires, behaviors and practices listed. I don’t see a distinction between an adultery and a theft, or same sex relations and greed.

No Christian thinks gay people should be stoned or put to death. The same as they don’t think adulterers should be put to death either. These were laws laid out for and agreed to by the Israelite people when they made their covenant with God.

In the first century, there was a man and a wife who lied to God and he dropped them where they stood. they sold a property and gave most of the money to charity. But they lied and said they gave all they received, so they would look better to the community. They were given a second chance to come clean but chose once again to lie.

Acts 5

But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back for yourself part of the proceeds from the sale of the land? Before it was sold, did it not belong to you? And when it was sold, was the money not at your disposal? How have you thought up this deed in your heart? You have not lied to people but to God!”

When Ananias heard these words he collapsed and died, and great fear gripped all who heard about it.

God was illustrating to the church the penalty for all sin and rebellion. He could not allow deception and lying to take place at the birth of the new church. Many would say as they do today, where is God, there is no God and continue down a road of selfish desire and sin, that ultimately would lead to their eternal separation from God.

James 1:14-15

each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

God loved them too much to let them carry on down the road to destruction. Love acts, love corrects, love disciplines to keep the loved one safe and have a better life. It just takes one sin to be condemned.

James 2:10

For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.

People get hung up on words like abomination. To God, all sin is an abomination because it is sin that separates him from his Children. Sin destroys lives. Giving up one sin out of many makes no difference in God’s eyes. Giving up all sins wouldn’t make any difference because the crime has already been committed and we are all guilty. That is why we need Jesus Christ, to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves.

Once we receive forgiveness, we must then live repentant lives, which means turning from our old sinful ways and submit to God’s will. We do not get to pick and chose what we think is sinful and what is not. God spells it out in his bible.

How Can I Be Saved

Before you go ahead and think that the bible has been rewritten so many times it is unreliable, read my posts on the reliability of the bible.

The argument, God made me this way doesn’t give anyone a pass on sin. Every person has a sinful nature that we need to submit to God’s authority. It doesn’t matter if you are having sex with the same gender, another gender. It doesn’t matter if we are adulterous, a nymphomaniac, lustful, compulsive liar or have an addictive personality. We cannot be slaves to our desires.

Humans are born with many strong desires. A recent Pew Poll I believe said that boys are hitting internet porn by age 10. The porn industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, so it is safe to say men are born with strong lustful desires. Is this OK with God? No it isn’t, the bible says there will be consequences not only in this life, but also in the next.

Galatians 5:19-21

When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Does it sound like gays are being unfairly singled out here by God? It is sin that kills remember;

“if you have broken one law you have broken them all.”

But you don’t think same sex sex is a sin? Another guy doesn’t think lusting after woman is sin, another doesn’t think lying is sin, another doesn’t think cheating on his wife or having sex before marriage is sin, and yet others don’t think their sin matters because God is love and he will overlook their sin.

We do not set the standard for which God judges. God has set the standard. We can choose to accept it and obey him, or choose our own lusts and appetites.

James 1:22

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

People all have different standards depending on their desires. Everyone thinks what they do is OK. There is a large group of people who believe that 12 year old children are ready physically and mentally for sex and marriage. Another large group thinks killing a nine month old baby in the womb because it is inconvenient is a choice, not a murder.

God is warning everyone, the wages of sin is death and since he is the judge, he also defines for us what sin is. On judgment day there will be no arguments. If you think that God is going to just overlook your sin when it cost him his one and only son, you are deceived.

It comes down to this; people just don’t want to give up their pleasures. Many people, not just gays choose pleasure and desire over God and discipline.

Romans 1:28-32

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve [Spiritual] death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

So, what can we do? God came to save us and gives us the ability to overcome our desires through his Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:12-14

Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
