Do you feel all alone, surrounded by trouble and helpless to deal with your circumstances?

There is help available all around you that you cannot even see.  God’s love, help and protection is just a prayer away. You are not alone.

2 Kings 6:15-17

So one night the king of Aram sent a great army with many chariots and horses to surround the city.

When the servant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses, and chariots everywhere. “Oh, sir, what will we do now?” the young man cried to Elisha.

“Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” Then Elisha prayed, “O LORD, open his eyes and let him see!” The LORD opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

That young man was overwhelmed by the circumstances before his eyes. What he did not know is that God was working even though he could not see him. We are all in a spiritual battle that is out of our control. But if God is Lord of your life, he is fighting what we cannot.

Ephesians 6:12

For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

We may be overwhelmed by our circumstances but God is not. Those who want to steal our faith and keep us from believing he loves us are under his authority. There is no power in heaven or on earth that rivals God. Though sickness, suffering and trouble may be all around us, God is still on his throne.

Romans 8:31

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?

Matthew 28:18

Jesus came and told his disciples, I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.– Jesus

Colossians 1:15-17

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.

The created is not equal to, or greater than the creator. God is not surprised by our circumstances and we do not know why he allows some things in our lives. For example, I do not know why my son and daughter died. God did not cause their deaths, but he has used their passing to bless others and to grow my wife and I.

Genesis 50:19-20

But Joseph replied,… You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.

Romans 8:28

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

We can’t always see how God will take what others do to harm us and make good out of it. Sin and rebellion to God has brought sickness and suffering into the world, but God walks with us through it. My two children have died and another miscarried and are gone. God looks at death much differently than us. They are with him now far from the pain and suffering of this world. Is that a bad thing?

We miss them terribly, but one day we will be reunited, this is the hope that is in Jesus Christ. They are not dead and will be alive for ever.

Matthew 22:31-32

“But now, as to whether there will be a resurrection of the dead—haven’t you ever read about this in the Scriptures? Long after Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had died, God said, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ So he is the God of the living, not the dead.” – Jesus

Jesus has been given all authority in heaven and on earth, and God the Father is causing every circumstance in our lives to be of benefit to those who love him. If that were not enough to encourage you, we have even more help.

The Holy Spirit

Romans 8:26

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us

The Holy Spirit is given to each believer who gives their lives to Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:9-11

But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

Hebrews 1:14

Therefore angels are… spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.

There you have it. All the power in heaven and on earth are working for the benefit of those who love God and give their lives to him. This is his promise to his children.

Yes, there is suffering and pain while we are here on earth but we are not alone in it. God the Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and God’s angels are aware of our troubles and they have not left us to endure them alone. He have not left us to defend ourselves against visible or the invisible enemies spoken of above in Ephesians 6:12.

God has those who have chosen to believe him and follow him, firmly in his protection.

Be Encouraged!

Romans 8:35-39

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?… No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
